Of all the things that can have an effect on your future, I believe personal growth is the greatest. We can talk about sales growth, profit growth, asset growth, but all of this probably will not happen without personal growth. It's really the open door to it all. In fact I'd like to have you memorize a most important phrase. Here it is: "The major key to your better future is YOU." 
Let me repeat that. "The major key to your better future is YOU." 
Put that someplace you can see it every day, in the bathroom, in the kitchen, at the office, anywhere you can see it every day. The major key to your better future is YOU. Try to remember that every day and think about it. The major key is YOU. 
Now, there are many things that will help your better future. If you belong to a strong, dynamic, progressive company, that would help. If the company has good products, good services that you are proud of, that would certainly help. If there were good sales aids, that would help, good training would certainly help. If there is strong leadership, that will certainly help. 
All of these things will help, and, of course, if it doesn't storm, that will help. If your car doesn't break down, that will help. If the kids don't get sick, that will help. If the neighbors stay halfway civil, that will help. If your relatives don't bug you, that will help. If it isn't too cold, if it isn't too hot, all those things will help your better future. And if prices don't go much higher and if taxes don't get much heavier, that will help. And if the economy stays stable, those things will all help. We could go on and on with the list; but remember this, the list of things that I've just covered and many more—all put together—play a minor role in your better future. 
The major key to your better future is you. Lock your mind onto that. This is a super important point to remember. The major key is you. A friend of mine has always answered when asked, "How do you develop an above-average income?" He says, "Simple. Become an above-average person. Work on you." My friend says, "Develop an above-average handshake." He says, "A lot of people want to be successful, and they don't even work on their handshake. As easy as that would be to start, they let it slide. They don't understand." My friend says, "Develop an above-average smile. Develop an above-average excitement. Develop an above-average dedication. Develop an above-average interest in other people." He says, "To have more, become more." Remember: work harder on yourself than you do on your job. For a long time in my life, I didn't have this figured out. 
Strangely enough, with two different people in the same company, one may earn an extra $100 a month, and the other may earn $1,000. What could possibly be the difference? If the products were the same, if the training was the same, if they both had the same literature, the same tools. If they both had the same teacher, the same compensation plan, if they both attended the same meetings, why would one person earn the $100 per month and the other person earn the $1,000? 
Remember: here is the difference... the difference is personal, inside, not outside, inside.You see the real difference is inside you. In fact, the difference IS you. Someone once said, "The magic is not in the products. The magic is not in the literature. The magic is not in the film. There isn't a magic meeting, but the magic that makes things better is inside you, and personal growth makes this magic work for you." 
The magic is in believing. The magic is in daring. The magic is in trying. The real magic is in persevering. The magic is in accepting. It's in working. The magic is in thinking. There is magic in a handshake. There is magic in a smile. There is magic in excitement and determination. There is real magic in compassion and caring and sharing. There is unusual magic in strong feeling, and you see, all that comes from inside, not outside. So, the difference is inside you. The real difference is you. You are the major key to your better future.


13. It's what you DO that Makes a Difference

Most of us are alike in our Dreams. Most of us are alike in the promises we make. What sets us apart and makes each of us different is what we do.

Last week I was visiting with my Mom, she was sharing with me how her railroad retirement (much like Social Security for retired railroad workers and their families) didn't go up this year. According to the letter that she received their was no cost of living increase like they generally get on an annual basis. She said to me, "How can that be look at the price of gas from last year to this year." We had a long talk about the state of the economy today, I shared with her stories I had heard of folks loosing their disability. Folks getting hit with tax bills unexpectedly for small enough amounts it's not worth hiring someone to fight it so they just pay it or have it garnished from their bonus check.

George Washington once said, "Where are the men of abilities why do they not come forth and save this country."

Whether you want to admit it or not our country needs us the small business owner. It's the small business owner that has the ability to pull the country out of the mess we're in. It's what you do that makes a difference.

Teddy Roosevelt once said, "It’s not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; who’s face is marred by dust, sweat and blood; who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again; who knows great enthusiasm, the great devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause; who at best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly; so his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory or defeat."

Albert Einstein wrote 240 papers.. most were never referenced.
Thomas Edison filed 1039 patents.. we all relate the name "Edison" with the light bulb, but what else? It’s the quantity that leads to the quality... It's what you DO that makes a difference!

If you show what you've got to enough people you will get results.

How do you want to live?

Are you living life the way you want it yet?
You must have a vision of what you want. If you really want to grow like you never have before you also must buy into the work. Very important the work must go with the vision to accomplish extrondinatory achievement. A new goal requires new thinking and new behavior.
Inspiration is contagious! Once your inspired your capable of doing great things.Buy into the vision, buy into the work isn't an option if you really want to live the life you desire.

The promise of a future is a very powerful idea. Would you follow a leader who wants to pay you a Million dollars a month? Especially if that leader is a person who stands behind, has the history and backing to do it. This same leader spent 2 years and 20 million dollars searching for the right company. The Leader was looking for.. Quality, Ethics, Values and Products that were 2nd to none.

Once the leader found the right company he spent the next few years pulling together the right leadership team to help him accomplish his vision. By the way this leader has a very successful track record for re-branding and re-launching companies taking 3 different companies to over a billion dollars in sales. What the leader really wanted was a company he could pass down to his future generations.

The vision is strong, the leadership team is strong. So what have they accomplished thus far? One of the many successful accomplishments so far is a dynamic new plan called the "Dream Plan".. but not only that another there is another plan that lay's over the traditional Dream Plan called Fast Track.

As far as I know there is no other company that puts this amount (90K) of immediate cash flow into yor pocket. We all know it takes time to build a business either direct sales or a traditional business. The Fast Track plan takes away the time factor of earning a full-time income while your building the traditional organization.

The vision of this leader has been unfolding in front of me for the last few years and I've gotta say it's truly inspiring. Remember... Inspiration is Contagious!

17. Work Ethic and Consistency = Success

Almost daily folks ask me, how to build and develop a long term residual businessI decided early in the game when I went full time online....I wanted to have a large Shaklee business because of the lifestyle it would create for us and our future generations.  I haven't been disappointed.

My answer is always the same when I'm asked questions about building a Shaklee business.  I'm not any different than you.  I'm certainly not special in any way. But, what I do going is consistency and a strong work ethic.  I'm dedicated!  I've  never been afraid to fail, and believe me I've  had my share of what I prefer to call lessons, rather than failures.
Probably the most important thing we have in our favor is being consistent.  We are consistent with our thinking, our goals, our effort, and the process.  That's it!  Consistency has been our secret, if there is such a thing as a secret.  So many people stop and start, stop and start, stop and start.  Believe me, if you'll just keep on trucking down the road, being consistent with your thinking, your goals, your effort and of course having a simple process to follow, and don't jump on every band wagon you see, and stick to the basic fundamentals of the business, YOU WILL GROW.


So my answer to success very simple.  Be consistent, work hard, don't always start and stop.  The day will come when you look back on your experience and you won't have any regrets.   I believe what most people regret is what they didn't do.

I could go on and on about what I've heard people say they can't do and that is what stops them from making progress.  How does a person "get better?"   Attend meetings, read good books, try things more than once that might intimidate you, then do it again, then again, then again.  You'll get better.  Quit trying to convince yourself business is difficult.  Once you have developed a really good attitude I know what will happen....you'll get better.

Here is a short story from another Master Coordinator Gary Burke...  I almost didn't graduate from college because of a requirement to take speech class. I was scared to death to talk in front of a group.  Just the thought of it made me break out in a sweat.  But, no speech class meant no graduation.  I finally took speech.  Literally scared stiff.  I hated it.  To make a long story short, I made it through and received a "C" for my efforts.  I remember telling myself, I'll never do that again....speak in front of people.   Fast forward after speaking at over 6000 meetings in Shaklee.  I can't wait to do it again for the 6001 time.

Shaklee is an opportunity in so many ways and Jack Cranney is absolutely right on the money with what he said above.  Self-development IS the "big picture."  I've experienced it and so have so many others who are in this business.

21. 9 Things more important than Capital
Excellent article by Jim Rohn...
When starting any enterprise or business, whether it is full-time or part-time, we all know the value of having plenty of capital (money). But I bet we both know or at least have heard of people who started with no capital who went on to make fortunes. How? You may ask.
Well, I believe there are actually some things that are more valuable than capital that can lead to your entrepreneurial success. Let me give you the list.
1. Time
Time is more valuable than capital. The time you set aside not to be wasted, not to be given away. Time you set aside to be invested in an enterprise that brings value to the marketplace with the hope of making a profit. Now we have capital time.
How valuable is time? Time properly invested is worth a fortune. Time wasted can be devastation. Time invested can perform miracles, so you invest your time.
2. Desperation
I have a friend, Lydia, whose first major investment in her new enterprise was desperation. She said, "My kids are hungry, I’ve gotta make this work. If this doesn't work, what will I do?" So she invested $1 in her enterprise selling a product she believed in. The $1 was to buy a few flyers so she could make a sale at retail, collect the money and then buy the product wholesale to deliver back to the customer.
My friend Bill Bailey went to Chicago as a teenager after he got out of high school. And the first job he got was as a night janitor. Someone said, "Bill, why would you settle for night janitor?" He said, "Malnutrition." You work at whatever you can possibly get when you get hungry. You go to work somewhere—night janitor, it doesn't matter where it is. Years later now, Bill is a recipient of the Horatio Alger award, rich and powerful and one of the great examples of lifestyle that I know. But, his first job—night janitor. Desperation can be a powerful incentive. When you say, “I must.”
3. Determination
Determination says I will. First Lydia said, "I must find a customer." Desperation. Second, she said, "I will find someone before this first day is over." Sure enough, she found someone. She said, "If it works once, it will work again." But then the next person said, "No." Now what must you invest?
4. Courage
Courage is more valuable than capital. If you've only got $1 and a lot of courage, I'm telling you, you've got a good future ahead of you. Courage in spite of the circumstances. Humans can do the most incredible things no matter what happens. Haven't we heard the stories? There are some recent ones from Kosovo that are some of the most classic, unbelievable stories of being in the depths of hell and finally making it out. It’s humans. You can't sell humans short. Courage in spite of, not because of, but in spite of. Now once Lydia has made 3 or 4 sales and gotten going, here's what now takes over.
5. Ambition
"Wow! If I can sell 3, I can sell 33. If I can sell 33, I can sell 103." Wow. Lydia is now dazzled by her own dreams of the future.
6. Faith
Now she begins to believe she's got a good product. This is probably a good company. And she then starts to believe in herself. Lydia, single mother, 2 kids, no job. "My gosh, I'm going to pull it off!" Her self-esteem starts to soar. These are investments that are unmatched. Money can't touch it. What if you had a million dollars and no faith? You'd be poor. You wouldn't be rich. Now here is the next one, the reason why she's a millionaire today.
7. Ingenuity
Putting your brains to work. Probably up until now, you've put about 1/10 of your brainpower to work. What if you employed the other 9/10? You can't believe what can happen. Humans can come up with the most intriguing things to do. Ingenuity. What's ingenuity worth? A fortune. It is more valuable than money. All you need is a $1 and plenty of ingenuity. Figuring out a way to make it work, make it work, make it work.
8. Heart and Soul
What is a substitute for heart and soul? It's not money. Money can't buy heart and soul. Heart and soul is more valuable than a million dollars. A million dollars without heart and soul, you have no life. You are ineffective. But, heart and soul is like the unseen magic that moves people, moves people to buy, moves people to make decisions, moves people to act, moves people to respond.
9. Personality
You've just got to spruce up and sharpen up your own personality. You've got plenty of personality. Just get it developed to where it is effective every day, effective no matter who you talk to, whether it is a child or whether it is a business person, whether it is a rich person or a poor person. A unique personality that is at home anywhere. One of my mentors, Bill Bailey, taught me, "You've got to learn to be just as comfortable, Mr. Rohn, whether it is in a little shack in Kentucky having a beer and watching the fights with Winfred, my old friend or in a Georgian mansion in Washington, DC as the Senator's guest." Move with ease whether it is with the rich or whether it is with the poor. And it makes no difference to you who is rich or who is poor. A chance to have a unique relationship with whomever. The kind of personality that's comfortable. The kind of personality that's not bent out of shape.

And lastly, let's not forget charisma and sophistication. Charisma with a touch of humility. This entire list is more valuable than money. With one dollar and the list I just gave you, the world is yours. It belongs to you, whatever piece of it you desire whatever development you wish for your life. I've given you the secret. Capital. The kind of capital that is more valuable than money and that can secure your future and fortune. Remember that you lack not the resources.


22. 4+ Ways to Recruit Online in 2011
The internet is like a living being always growing and changing. Because it's very much like a living being we must alway be honing our marketing strategies to reflect what works today not 2 yrs ago or yesterday for that matter.

I've seen many discussions floating around online between what is right and not the right way to find folks to partner with in business.

So here are some online recruiting techniques that I feel are within the boundaries of ethical behavior. What would you add?
  1. Facebook Ads. If you are interested in finding people with experience, who may have at one time worked with a competing company, or may be looking for a switch, running a targeted Facebook Ad that displays for people that have mentioned the other company is OK (as long as your company policies allow it.) But your ad should not belittle that other company in other way. Rather, it highlights the benefits of your opportunity.  The reason I think this is OK is because you’re not specifically targeting individuals. You’re simply providing information, and if someone is looking for a new opportunity, they can act should they choose to.
  2. A blog that is designed for recruiting. You should cover topics that would be of interest to someone looking for an opportunity, and provide a way for people to find out more about the opportunity you offer. Your blog should NOT recreate the opportunity page of your replicated website. Rather, it is more generic information that people interested in an opportunity may be searching for.
  3. Answer questions on sites like LinkedIn and Forums. You can search for questions asked related to direct sales, small business, and working from home. This is a great way to demonstrate your expertise, and begin to develop relationships with folks.
  4. Post ads on LinkedIn Jobs boards. Some groups have a “Jobs” section. If the topic of the group is applicable to what you have to offer (for example, working at home), feel free to post your opportunity there. Just be clear that it’s a business opportunity that requires an investment, and not a “job.” If group members are interested, they can contact you. 
And of course, you can connect with people through your social networks, get to know them, share common interests, and listen. This will allow you to present the opportunity to individuals in relevant ways.

24. Internet Marketing and Social Marketing
Many time folks feel they can flip a magic switch and have money flooding into their account. Even though many marketing websites will tout this.. trust me it's just not that easy. Notice I didn't say simple. Really internet marketing is a very simple business once you understand how it works.

In all reality internet marketing and social marketing are (or should be) very closely related. Social marketing is about caring so much for your customer they are on a pedestal and feel like they are treated like royalty. It's about offering a high-quality product they will go out of their way to come back to you to purchase. It's rapport building and relationship building. And it works! It's old-school, time-tested, and the only marketing strategy that NEVER fails.

Thank goodness we already have an extraordinary, high-quality, product. All we have to do is build an equally extraordinary relationship with our clients.

How do you do that? No hype. No high pressure. No claims you can't prove. Just honest, sincere, relationship building and over-the-top service. In short, we need to treat our customers with the respect they deserve.

Think about it. Why would a customer that is disrespected in any way recommend you to a friend?

Relationship building is the essence of "guilt marketing" and it will take your business to new levels. Always give your customers a little bit extra. Meaning if you run accross something that you know is relevant to them or their business, send it to them by email, private Facebook message or FedEx. They'll appreciate your doing it. And they'll remember you and they will buy from you.

Whenever possible, throw in a few extras and don't charge for them. Or charge a ridiculously low price. That lets them know you really appreciate them as customers and that it's not just about the money.

Because it's never really "just about the money."

You might be wondering why would I put a video like this on a Marketing tips information blog. Well it's simple when your marketing your business you need to think of others needs more than your own needs.. and you don't want to let your own needs get in the way.

A perfect example of this was a phone call that my son Matt was telling me about yesterday. He got this phone call from someone selling an ad in the local phone book, he was actually considering it when the salesman added, "well I need your decision tonite because our book goes to print tomorrow." It became very apparent to Matt this guy was under a deadline to make a last ditch effort to make a few last sales. Of course maybe it was going to print tomorrow, but the way it came across was... I need a sale from a desperate man on the phone.

Take the same situation and put a different attitude from the salesman. If he was truly thinking of his prospect, he would have said,"I understand you need more time and I'll be happy to work with you to make a sound decision for your business, it might be better to work out a plan for next year since our books for this year are going to print tomorrow."

The outcome still may have been the same, but at least the salesman would have had the door open to follow up for the next go around.

People don't care how much you know till they know how much you care.
